Noumea, being a French territory, has fantastic patisseries where you can get delicious pastries that are much better than you'll get in your standard corner bakery back at home.

There are a few in the main town area to choose from and they take credit cards as payment, which means you don't really need to convert cash (which you can do on the ship if you desire, but you get charged for the privilege).
